I'm doing an extensive winter (snow here) maintenance on my 2020 CRF250r. I think the OwnersManual is Ok, good enough, but drives me crazy about some stuff, like fork oil.

So the question is: The recommended fork oil volume (11.6 US oz (343 cm3) is that for the Outer tube and that volume is setting the stiffness for the final mm of travel? or is that volume in addition to the damper oil? and most importantly, does the outer tube and damper oil mix?

According to a few phrases, lines in the owners manual I get the impression that they can mix, but then again, I see changing damper oil as a different section in the owners manual.

What makes me a little perplexed is that not even close to 320cm3 came out of the tube and I see no leakage, have not witnessed that, can the bike have been delivered with very little oil in the fork?

Sorry for question all over the place... but as you see, I don't know Smile

Would it be un-wise not to change damper oil and only change outer tube oil as that oil volume is what is referred to when adjusting stiffness?

Happy for any input!

Rocky Mountain has a good video on rebuilding the new Showa forks. I just used it last week while doing my RM-Z. You need to fill the chamber first. Once the fork is nearly assembled, THEN you'll add your 343 cc's to the outer tubes.
