Anyone use one of these Bleed Cups?

Watching the video I am not seeing them charge the bladder before attempting to bleed?

The bladder should get pre-charged with at least 50 psi so it does not collapse just as you would if you were bleeding from the main body

Anyone using this or tried it?

OK so I rebuilt my KYB KX450 shock and have yet to ride it....he is what I did and what I did not like when finished. This is where knowing the proper procedure would help

1- The CUP seems to small and need a 2nd person their to fill the cup with oil

Here is how I used the Bleed Cup
(Make sure all bleed are set to full soft and that the rebound rod is fully open)

1- Filled the reservoir and added the Bladder, cap and clip
2- Charged the bladder with 60 psi to equalize the oil to the main shock body
3- Add oil to the main shock body 3/4 full
4- Ran the shaft through a few strokes to just get the oil into the stack and bleeds
5- Let it sit for 15-20 mins
6- Close off bleeding the bladder to seat the seal head and clip
7- Add the bleed cup
8- Maker sure the bladder is charged with 60 psi
9- Add oil to the Bleed Cup and run the shaft through the range altering the angle of the shock
10- You will need to add oil to the Bleed Cup on the rebound stroke
11- After bleeding and no more air bubbles are seen I discharged the bladder and then removed the Bleed Cup
12- Make sure that the oil level does not get lower than the port to the bladder
13- Charge the bladder with a hand pump to about 10 psi
14- Top off the oil in the HSC and add the HSC adjuster
15- Charge the Bladder with your nitro - IN my case 160 psi
16- Run the Shock through the stroke and make sure it rebounds fully and make sure I do not hear any Snap-Crackle-POP that there is air in the shock

I will update after the weekend as to how the shock performed

Thank you for that. I’m doing an 05 KX250 Showa shock. I did everything the way the manual says, and the shock shaft goes through the stroke smooth, but doesn’t rebound on its own. So I’m going to fill the bladder to 50-60psi and give the bleed cup a go

Ya if its not rebounding then yes you have air trapped....you have to prime the bladder even when you bleed the shock normally. If you are bleeding as per the Honda Tech Manual you need to at least use 6-8 psi in the bladder when you tilt the shock and finish bleed via the HSC port

This shock (not even positive it’s the 05 shock that’s supposed to be on the bike) has a 5mm Allen bolt hole for bleeding. I imagine i should be able to bleed through there, but the bleed cup should be here soon. I’ll air up the bladder today and give it a go. Thank you

I ghettoed a bleed cup for a Showa by just getting a short piece of plastic tubing that squeezed into that bleed hole.
Then punching a hole in the bottom of a small cup and sliding it over the tube. Worked great but you have to put something over the top of the cup or when you compress the shock, oil will go flying. (Or just go slow.)

I just used a makeshift cup for the bleed hole and got no air. The shaft goes in and out nice and smooth, I aired the bladder to 60psi and the shaft comes out on its own very slow. I’m thinking when I take it to 160psi with nitrogen eventually, I shouldn’t have an issue. I was under the impression that the shock would rebound on its own before the bladder was pressurized. I’m new to fiddling with shocks and I’m glad I’m doing some learning finally. This shock is built by pro circuit and off a former pros bike. I don’t know exactly what year it’s from or what’s been modded, but the manual for the actual bike itself wasn’t very helpful for rebuilding the shock.

I have one I used on my Husky shock. Seemed to work well.

The 2005 KX250 two-stroke and KX250F four-stroke both came with Kayaba (KYCool shocks.

I have the DRC cup and adapter for KYB, but I have not used them yet.

In the manual, the shock doesn’t have the 5mm Allen bleed hole like this shock. The forks are Showa so I assumed the shock also was.

Thank you

I bought a 2005 KX250 off the dealer floor. Mine has the bleed bolt. I also have 3 more spare shocks that have it. I have the first and fifth (last) version of the Kawasaki service manuals. It is definitely in there.

The stock forks are KYB.

2006 and newer KX250F came with Showa.

Can you post a picture of your bike?

Do you have to pull the exchange piston out of the High Speed assembly b4 you screw the bleed cup on to use it?
