xr650l wont get spark

so we just picked up a xr650l and it has no spark, i cleaned all the connectors and grounds and still nothing i checked for faulty on/off switch and kick stand switch, the battery is charged and there is power and it does turn over just doesnt start/spark. what should i be doing or looking for?

Check for voltage at the ignition coil. fuse? If the obvious is not the problem, then i would ohm out the stator and or pulse coil. Spark plug cap ?, unscrew the wire out of it and check for spark against the engine but not near the spark plug hole if there is excess fuel in there you could have a little problem. .
