Hey guys
Just got a 2011 ktm 250-excf and have some jetting questions.
Where I am we are forced to run a lower octance fuel http://www.opalfuel.com.au/
So I took the bike for a spin and it backfires (pops) when the throttle is let off and won't idle for longer for a few seconds.
It also felt extremely snappy, not sure whether this is because I haven't ridden for so long or maybe the fact its got 13-51 gearing.
Also the bike hasn't been run in yet, if that helps

If somebody could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated cheers

when we would set up ktms at the shop they come a but lean so we had to adjust the fuel screw about half a turn out, it sounds like your running lean. but i would only adjust it 1 to 2 times before you get the bike broken in cause they will loosen up a bit if that makes sense. not sure how or what jetting or restrictions you guys have.

So today I fitted the akrapovic muffler that came with the bike and took out the spark arrestor.
Fiddled with the idle screw and it now idles normally. Played with the fuel/air mixture screw, it kind of lagged when opening the throttle up but stopped popping (backfiring) when deaccerlerating. Went for a ride and it ran great, no bog no crackle no delay.
