These folks have a gun and a badge, but "Can't" help when an ovious offense is happening?
That's total B.S. She could at least followed the guy until back up arrived. Instead she told the mother of those 2 kids, "I can't help you get your kids from the guy whose about to murder them, it's policy."

Why the hell don't they just use citizens to serve divorce papers, and save the taxpayers some dough?

I heard something on this story on the radio and thought WTF?

We have "constable" cars running around in FW all the time and I don't know what they do.

They deliver evictions, divorce papers, and supeonas (sp?).

Don't know FtW's policy, but in district 1 Dallas, they aren't supposed to "Protect and Serve" just "Serve".

That whole story just pisses me off. If something happened to my family like that, knowing a peace officer told my wife she couldn't help her save the kids, you'd be reading about me.

It's kind of a catch 22. A few years ago, the Dallas PD was chasing some kid and he t-boned a newlywed couple at about 80mph and killed them. After that, Dallas went to a no chase policy and now this happens.

What happened was a man grabbed his 2 kids who were on thier way to school, presumably after a fight with the wife. She knew he grabbed them, saw a Dallas Constable (who has police training, and carries a badge and gun). Because the constable's cars don't have computers or lights, they instruct them to look the other way if they witness a crime.

The mother of the kids flagged down a Constable, and told her what was happening She thought the father was going to kill the kids. the Constable said,"Sorry, I can't help".

The father killed the 2 young boys.

Cam, That's for traffic stops, it doesn't mean they can't at least follow a potential murderer.
