higher tire pressure = better mileage?

Whatever the max +10 should be good.

Check the sidewall it will tell you the max pressure.

Careful in the summer though. Dont wanna go maxing pressure, then getting the tires ridiculously hot. I'm sure they can handle more than it says though.

Yes, you get better mileage with higher pressure.

But, I would not run above the ratings. The return isn't that much.

The rating on the sidewall is for a specific load. You can usually go to the tire manf website and see what the maximum pressure rating for that tire actually is.

I run 45 in my truck and my cars. I think 44 is the max rating on mine if I recall. It will give you better mileage by reducing drag/friction. It's much harder to push a car with flat tires. Similarly it takes less power to push a car with tires inflated to a higher pressure. It's usually also better for the tire too as long as you don't go too far over the rated max. The more pressure the less flex and heat generated. Of course the tread wear may not be optimal/even if overinflated.
