Concord Monitor - That quote isn't in there
MSNBC - that quote isn't in there either
Newser - Nope, strike three
Swamp Politics - Can you have four strikes?
Is four strikes possible?
Well, is here
None of those articles had a quote from Barack Obama saying "I'm bringing the troops home"
None
The Shop
Concord Monitor - "It is time to bring our troops home because it has made us less safe," said Obama,
MSNBC - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama said Tuesday U.S. combat forces should be out of Iraq by spring 2008 to end “a foreign policy disaster,” but he stopped short of endorsing a cutoff in funds.
Newser - Iraq troop withdrawals should be completed by the end of next year, Barack Obama says in a speech obtained by Reuters that was to be delivered in Iowa tonight. “We have to begin to end this war now,” the Democratic presidential candidate demands; his plan calls for one or two US combat brigades to leave Iraq each month, with all troops out by the end of 2008.
Swamp Politics - Obama, in a statement released by his campaign, said: “It is past time to end this war that should never have been waged by bringing our troops home, and finally pushing Iraq's leaders to take responsibility for their future.’’
Now, yes, he did say he would bring the troops home but he also always said there was a time frame in doing do, it's not like you can pack up and leave overnight, and you know that, it was always to be a structured withdrawal over time based on conditions on the ground and advice of commanders on the ground.
That last point (which I underlined) was a bone of contention in debates between Obama and McCain as well as the loud mouth pundits, in that leaving Iraq in an immediate withdrawal would spin the country into chaos and the loud mouths kept saying that was what Obama was going to do and he had to explain over and over that his plan did not entail an immediate withdrawal, but it would be a structured withdrawal over time based on conditions on the ground and advisement of his commanders on the ground.
THIS he has stuck to.
US Forces have been withdrawn from combat situations as well as policing situations and most all of the responsibility has been turned over to the Iraqi's. We are basically still there as the Iraqi's back up and to ensure they're capably keeping shit in order so they don't fuck up our work.
The number of troops in Iraq has been reduced and continues in that direction.
Obama has also ALWAYS said that the fight is in Afghanistan, where the Taliban and AQ is, as well as OBL, and he always said he would take the fight there.
Sounds a lot like what Bush said. What a change.
Not his fault if people don't listen to what he says.
But there is a difference, a "change" so to speak, Obama set a time line for withdrawal and an end goal and promised to call in on his first day in office his Joint Chiefs of Staff and instruct them to lay out a plan of withdrawal within his time line and end goal...which he did do.
Bush's plan was always open ended because he did not want to put a time line for withdrawal
Spending money in foreign countries and losing American lives..
build roads
build schools
drill wells
buy farmers tractors and teach how to grow food instead of opium
get electricity to more people

I see the USA always helping everyone else, but I don't see them jumping up and down to help us.
by Bob Dylan
Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just don't want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
While the death count gets higher
Then you hide in your mansion
While the young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins
How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead
