Most of those are due to morons thinking they are on a racetrack while on the street. We had a kid here a couple years ago that died on a streetbike when a car turned in front of him. Everyone was outraged that the lady wasn't charged with anything until it was revealed he was doing 127mph. on a business street. in the dark.

With the exception of the side car wheelie guy it looked like most of them were going a lot faster than the cars around them. It only took me one bad wreck to start going the speed limit on my bike.

I never rode like an ass, but a few of my friends did. Similar situation back when I was in my 20's, a lady turned in front of my buddy and he smashed into her. He's lucky to be alive. 2 broken legs, broken arm, ribs, head injury, the list goes on. He can't run and has a severe limp to this day. Everybody was pissed at the driver - until they found out my buddy was going 100mph in a 40mph zone, in the dark.
His fault, but we all sold our bikes after that incident. I always felt 1 slip away from death or miserable rest of my life.

Lotta morons in that video. Most of them are actually pretty funny but that one looked pretty bad, not sure if the dude on the bike or the person in the car would have made it out of that one. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who ride bikes who have no business being anywhere near a bike.

I had so many calls on my Speed Triple...that I finally made myself sell it. It was only a matter of time before I was taking an ambulance/helicopter/hurst ride. And I didn't ride like an idiot...it was other cars turning in front of me...headlight on, bright yellow motorcycle...and people still couldn't see me.

And I LOVED that bike, too. But I hated riding in fear all the time. The next street bike I get will be a track bike only...

Nothing wrong with that. I've never really had too many really close calls with other vehicles I think because I *assume* they do not see me and are going to pull out in front of me or some something else stupid. I feel I have a pretty good sense of anticipating what "could" happen and do whatever I can to keep myself out of a situation. I did have one close call last year though which was totally my fault and it was just a case of losing focus of what I was doing for just a split second:

That was CLOSE! Way to ride it out...a lesser rider would have been wrapped around a tree.

As for selling my bike...I figured if I have to assume that every car is going to turn in front of me, then I should probably sell the thing. Worrying about every car just took the fun out of it for me. But, boy do I love riding canyons...so much fun, and I miss it. Soon a track bike will fill the void.
