I bought this 2006 zzr600 last week on ebay for $2,025.00. It has 11,000 miles on it. Rode it around this weekend and it is a great running bike. Anyway, Thought maybe you guys that have had these type of bikes before might have a few tips and tricks for me on maintaining it or know of some good little toys to buy for it. I already know I want a taller windscreen.

I think if you want a taller windscreen you may have purchased the wrong bike. Now tuck your little head in behind one of those mirrors and twist that thing on the right!

yep, got that part down. Smile I'm just using it for a little commuter bike around town. I don't live where there is a lot of traffic thank goodness. If I did... I wouldn't own one.

By the way, looks like you got a good deal. I just picked up the old mans version (new '09 650R). I've been having a ball and already have 4500 miles on it and I've only had it about a month. It had 0 miles on it when I bought it.

Yeah, so far very fun. Gotta ask though. What's the deal with no gas gauge? Read that I was just supposed to reset the trip meter and know how many miles a tank goes on?

My 650 does have a gas gauge but I still use the trip meter too (has two trip meters). My little 250 Ninja doesn't have a gauge either. It's not really a big deal. The gas gauge on my 650 flashes the E when I still have a gallon left on a 4.1 gallon tank.

the windscreen you are looking for is called a double bubble. really helps push the air a bit higher so you aren't in the wind stream as much. go ahead and grab a solo cowl for the back so you aren't tempted to double up on it...if you want to go fast and hit the twisties a GP shift kit is fun..makes it 1 up and 5 down instead of the other way and some slightly higher rearsets..those last 2 are strictly for rippin and tearing really...oh put some frame sliders on there too just in case you drop it over. nothing sucks worse than buying fairings for those pigs if you break them.

+1 on the frame sliders.

Cheap insurance for your expensive plastic.

Maybe some ape hangers would look nice......

thanks for the heads up on the frame sliders... these plastics are ridiculously expensive.
