A 250F is definatly easier to ride. A 250 screamer is more fun, IMO!

hey sorry to bring up my old post but i looked at a 05 rm 250 today its my first 2 stroke and i want to know a bit more about them. i only realised today that the powerband kicks in every gear?? the uy at the shop said i can tone it down by changing the sprocket sizes. but he also said the powerband will barley kick in if you take it smooth on the throttle? i like the idea of the 2 storke it just sounds easy compard to a 4 stroke. so if anyone could give me a hand or any advice it would be great. did anyone else go to a 250 2 stroke first up? im 94kg 17yr

Thanks Smile

Be prepared to do alot of engine work with a 4stroke, right now im on the final steps of rebuilding 1 bike and just started tearing down another. i wish i had a 2 stroke =/

both 2 and 4 stroke will require a bit of maintnance....it just depends on your willingness topay and the effort you put into fixing your bike.....theres a big differe ce between 2 and 4 stroke, all depends on what you like....when i was 13 i went from a suzuki rm 100 straight too a ktm 250 sxf...sloo i suggest you test each

yeah i understand that they both need maintnance but i just like the idea of the 2 stroke. but is it right if i change the sprockets it will mellow out the powerband just intill i get used to it?

i think you shold ride it how it is....see how it rides get used to it....within 10 hours of it you will probbly then decide on sprokets and othrer add ons but you wont be able to notice any of a differance just riding around circles in your yard....u gotta have open land and corners and jumps ....purchase an hour meter for yoir bike .go to your local track once a week and once you get 10 hours on te bike take it on for a tune up and talk with them about sprockets and all...if uve ever raced bmx or ridden it...you cant tell by riding aound the block if you need to up your sprocket 2 teeth...it takes time...dont change anything till you know the effects itll have on you
