I was wondering after watching a video about the race this weekend who our back up racers are?? How are they selected? Do they come along for the whole trip, or are we just out of a racer if they get injured while over there?

The backup is who ever picks up the phone first and can get to France with a bike in the event of of the 3 gets injured.

The team was supposed to fly to France yesterday so any replacement will be a emergency situation. No team is willing to spend all the money to prep and ship a bike and send the support staff for a rider on standby waitng for an injury to get on the team. It would be done last minute.

If RV is out, Weimer probably gets the call, and Tickle for Bagget, etc. I can't even think of a Suzuki rider who we could sub for Dungey if needed, except for Kyle Regal. He is the only fast American that has been on a RM 450.

Barcia would be the fastest available guy but the issues with getting a bike lined up would be the big hang up.

When Tedesco had to replace RC at the last minute in 2006 he was not the best choice, but he was the only logical one since they could put him on RC's bike which had already been sent overseas. In the end Ivan did his job and it all worked out for the win.
