Bad ass pic. Where'd ya find it? That'd be great for a computer desktop. Oh, I don't think that's the crash...that looks like somewhere in the sand section, and wasn't the crash on a tabletop in one of the rhythm sections?

That sure looks like the crash. He fell on his right side with his leg stuck out on the sand wall.

That is the spot he crashed, but hard to tell if this was the lap.
That is the crash, no one was laying a bike over on purpose over that wall.

I would think there would have been some Shorty roost and more than likely even Shorty if that was the spot.

So he is scrubbing that hard on a 3' jump with his leg touching the ground on purpose?

I guess you may be right. I just watched the replay and there does not appear to be a photographer in the area at the time of the crash to snap that pic, just a couple of course workers.

edit: A ha!! I was correct. The photog must have been "getting his zoom on" [(c) Brett Michaels] from another vantage point.

Definitely the crash lap.. You would never stick your leg out like that on that jump unless to try to keep from falling. His front tire slid on the face of the wall and made it an unintentional scrub and then he lands leaned over. This place kills me sometimes

The photo was by Andrew Fredrickson, and he told me that yes, James was crashing at that point. I just asked him on IM if he was trying to scrub:

"I don't think so, I think he just blew through the soft sand at the top of the jump and got out of control...."

Shorty's wheel must be just out of frame on the grassy knoll.

I think I'll stay with my thinking that was NOT the time where Jimmy crashed.

No way he would have his foot at the ground like that. That looks like he is bailing.
