Full carbon exhausts

why do teams use full carbon exhausts in supercross but dont in outdoors? is it because of there durability?

Heat, Muffler temperatures are higher in outdoor and the epoxy in the carbon melts. MX runs during the day where outside temperature is sometimes over 100 and the engines run at full throttle for longer periods transferring for heat to the muffler.

Hey DL, I'm assuming you work at RE. What about sound? Are your composite exhausts the same db as your Ti exhausts? I know when we first started using composites in our fuselages we had to use acoustic treatment panels. We've found that cabin noise in composite fuselages is louder than aluminum fuselages...

Also, what fabric/resin do you guys use for exhaust cans? There are some far more heat resilient fiver/resin systems than the typical twill/epoxy I normally see on MX bike parts.
