....anyone notice that all the Factory Connection guys are now running Brembo Master Cylinders for better braking response? they actually purchased these units from Langston Motorsports...... and if you contact me directly i can get you a good deal on a set-up for yourself.

All of the Geico Hondas utilize a Brembo front brake master cylinder, which comes OEM on KTMs. The Brembo component is said to provide much-improved power and a better feel at the lever.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if a oversized rotor is cheaper.. I've got a 2011 250SX and a 2011 YZ450 and the brakes on my YZ are a joke in comparison..

They are running those now. What's a setup like that cost compared to a big brake kit?

I bought a used one on eBay for $30 off an 02 ktm. Sight window was completely scratched but I didn't care. Clean used ones run about 80-90 and I believe new about $130 but I could be wrong on that.

There are six pro riders and two amateurs at FC Racing, three different M/C specs are used between our eight guys. It's just another part to tailor set up for each individual.Oh and T Man that's dirt from roost.

Oh wait, you're a mechanic for that team? Ahem, I meant to say "you're amazing smart and always right. GOOD JOB!!!"Tongue Woohoo

Kib dog, telling it like it is!
Looks similar to the setup that John Wall ran at the 96 Coffs Harbour SX!

I guess most of the FC guys use this in conjunction with the 270mm rotor setup?

Have you ever made a post here that wasn't at least indirectly spam related? We get it, you work at Langstons and can hook everyone up.

I know that the pros are worried about rotating mass, but for the average Joe I would say just get a big rotor kit and be done with it.

I rode a lot of supermoto back in 04 and just ran a complete oem setup on the front with the exception of a 320 rotor. The braking power was unbelievable. Obviously thats over kill for dirt, but you get the idea.

Unless you enter turns at Expert/Pro speeds, those oversize kits can be too powerful and cause you to lose the front end on hardpack.

I learned this the hard way...

Off topic but

Why arent the radial mounted master cylinder and calipers making it to mx bikes?

Sports bike tech is years ahead of mx!

If mx bikes had radial master and caliper you wouldn't need a larger rotor I would think?

Because we don't need a 1/4 of the braking power of a road racer.

Well, yeah they do..

They are factory supported this year. But run Brembo brakes, Pro taper bars and Yosh. Along with many other different sponsors from last year. (Alias and Muscle milk)

The picture of that is from A1 2012! It's not like the Prot taper equip. isn't enough to give that away..

If you want to see the oversized rotors they are running check out CRFSTUFF.COM. I can tell you from experience that they work great.

Is Dog Town Brakes still around? Used to be located in the same complex as Enzo I believe?? They would bore out stock master cylinders and install larger internals for better braking.

Makes sense to me for the weight/gyro. But at what point is a rotor too small to dissipate heat fast enough?

A small disc has less leverage because it has a smaller diameter. And leaverage provides most of the braking power (a little braking power comes from the surface covered of the brakepad by one disc rotation)

You need to have some thinkness of the disc for the heat to dissapate in, like you said.

My very limited experience with brembo brakes is that they seem to 'feel' much better. I tend to lock up Nissin brakes where you have full confidence with the Brembo's. You just kinda know what's gonna happen. But that is just my opinion based on limited experience.

Unfuggin believable!!! Factory mechanic nuts up and comes on here to shed some light on why they run certain components but still the Vital gurus got argue the merits !?! Best to stay in your dyno room engine man and achieve something then argue with idiots.
