JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Welcomes Christian Craig

The 18 Year-Old will Ride for the Injured Josh Grant

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (August 10, 2009) – Christian Craig will substitute for Josh Grant while Grant recovers from ankle injuries sustained at X Games 15. Craig is an 18 year-old who just made his professional debut at X Games 15 where he finished eighth. Craig won national titles as an amateur before turning professional, and is excited about the opportunity to ride the JGRMX prepared Yamaha YZ450F. “I am very happy to be riding for the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Team. They have the best of everything. I have a great opportunity and will make the most of it,” said Craig.

Craig, who resides in Murrieta, Calif. is the son of former Factory Yamaha rider Mike Craig. He arrived in North Carolina yesterday and spent the day testing settings at the JGRMX practice facility. Craig will live in North Carolina riding and training with team. He will race with the number 578.

As reported earlier Josh Grant will most likely miss the remaining four-rounds of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, but continues to make rapid progress with his recovery. Grant was in the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha shop this afternoon in good spirits and getting around quite well with the aid of crutches. His status will be updated as his condition improves.

Craig’s debut with the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Team and the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship will be August 15 at Unadilla Sports Center in New Berlin, N.Y. The first motos of both the 250 and 450 Classes will air live on www.allisports.com beginning at 1:00 p.m. (EST). The second 450 moto will be broadcast on SPEED starting at 7:00 p.m. (EST).

Christian is an incredible kid and an ever bigger talent on a bike. This should be an exciting opportunity for him and one that I personally think will benefit both greatly. The JGR environment has proven to be very productive and Im looking forward to see what this young man can accomplish in the next month. Hopefully he can avoid putting to much pressure on himself and just goes out and rides that monster 450 like he knows how.

I know CC, his mom and a couple others took a risk by not following the traditional path to LL. They instead hoped by doing the X Games would open up some opportunities quicker and well, obviously they bet right. Congratulations to Christian and those others that believed in him. Good luck at the 'Dilla!

Can he beat Mike yet? Does Mike even ride anymore?

Shit, even Keith could hold his own pretty well on a bike back in the day.
