Before you read any further make sure you have life insurance and there are no children nearby!!!
This is the last year model Yamaha 490 Death Machine, but they called it something a little slicker in the showrooms to help calm down the soon to be widows... oops I mean wives of the buyers.
To preface this description so you know where I’m coming from I have a 190whp gsxr 1000 and other street track bikes and ride new 450mx bikes.... this thing is NASTY and OFFENSIVE. This thing has a motor that’s fresher than the prince of Bel-air and It’s tuned right on the money, you twitch your wrist and the front wheel is in the sky. You think hey that corner went pretty well I’d like some power right, about, ...... too late your already dead and buried!
Seriously, this bike has so much hair on it I’m surprised nobody has shot it with a tranquilizer dart and brought it in to get the reward on Sasquatch. It shifts just as slick as a modern bike does which is pretty impressive (mix of 4t racing 10-40 & euro 0-40 gearbox) clutch works and grabs like a modern bike, brakes are shockingly good, not ktm good but they are miles better than your thinking they are. Suspension was done a few years ago and is smoother than my brand new 450sxf ironically. Zero stiction. It’s also very light weight and shockingly nimble. For today’s standards where everyone is doing 100ft triples but riding lazy-boy enduro bikes, this bike would eat a ktm300 for lunch motor wise and the suspension imo is perfect for 180lb woods rider. Insanely plush and balanced just not for case-ing that 4th gear triple....
Being that it’s the very last yr YZ490 and air cooled 500 it’s the last of a dying breed that is already appreciating dramatically in value. It’s not the most perfect museum piece on the planet but it is 100% mechanically tuned and sound and cosmetically just needs the tank sanded lightly to remove some of the external yellowing. It absolutely is currently in cosmetic condition to impress people but its not something Jay Leno has, you know what im saying here... its not a $7k one. Everyone says it but literally this needs nothing. This bike is setup so you add gas and go win your class at AHRMA.... This isn’t grandpas throw together pile of shit he thinks is Doug Henry’s gp bike...
If this bike sounds like fun to you or if you want to kill your husband and have it look like an accident so you can sell his house close out his accounts and buy a condo in Boca then please reach out to me by either text or phone. I “work” from home so I can show anytime of day.
