Results Sheet: Lake Elsinore

What a wild day of racing. The 250 class was the highlight, with Baggett, Tomac, and Barcia all giving it everything they had to wrap up the 250 crown. But the ladies also put on quite a show, with World Champ Chiara Fontanesi surprising the WMX crowd by sweeping the moto wins, while Ashley Fiolek, Jessica Patterson, and Tarah Gieger all battled to wrap up their own championship. Here are the full results and some of our favorite photos from the weekend.

Mike Alessi nails another holeshot. (This one in moto two.)

Ryan Dungey has had the speed this year, winning ten races, and the title.

Broc Tickle grabbed another podium, and a lot of attention this season.

Justin Barcia led chunks of both motos, but Blake Baggett reeled him in in moto one, taking a huge win.

The GEICO Honda teammates went at it, with Eli Tomac coming from behind to catch and pass Barcia, and he nearly caught Baggett as well, before the heat got to him and he had to cool his pace.

In the end, Blake Baggett finished with a 1-2 day, and up 20 points in the championship chase.

Marvin Musquin was on the podium again. After a tough 2011, he's settled in nicely this year.

World Champ Chiara Fontanesi took the pair of moto wins at Lake Elsinore, but nearly tossed away a moto win after starting her celebration too soon before the finish line.

With some luck and perseverance, Ashley Fiolek came back from a concussion and missed round to take the 2012 WMX title.

Mariana Balbi was second overall with a 3-2 day.

You have to feel bad for Jessica Patterson, who came into the final round with the points lead after racing through a broken hand a Red Bud. She also raced Washougal with that injury freshly repaired. But yet another injury just before Lake Elsinore helped put the fork in her title hopes. Tarah Gieger ended up with second overall for the season, with Jessica third.
