Several of us, myself included, find ourselves complaining about 5 times per year on average about track cutting and gaining an unfair advantage. None of us, however, have came up with a solution to it. What should be done? What is the best solution taking into consideration rider safety and fairness to all riders? Do they have it the best it can be right now? I find that hard to believe, but maybe they do if none of us can come up with something better. I just feel like something needs to be changed or else it will get more ridiculous than it already is.

Quite a few people have come up with a solution. Actual enforcement of the rules that are already in place and they would stop cutting.

Actual enforcement of the rules, and state that they HAVE TO re-enter where they went off, AND in a safe manner. That may mean waiting for 20 bikes to pass. If they don't, the penalty should be a one lap penalty. Make it severe and they won't do it.
You should be penalized for going off the track.

It should be simple.. If you gain advantage compared to rejoining the track where you exited, you shouldt be penalized.. maybe XX sec to your finish time, or stop and go for XXsec, or maybe even DQ.. whatever that seems fair,

But the rule is to re enter at the next safest spot not where you left the track. Maybe the solution is the rider must come to a complete stop then cannot leave 1st gear until they return to the track.

Funny but I think it's a legitimate complaint. Being able to go balls out on a fire road next to the track skipping obstacles is crap.

You would be correct. I got directed to the inside of the first turn. The "safe" side. It was a surprise to have a parade of riders come through.

Carrie Coombs was up at the top of the first turn directing riders back onto the track.

I got it....Dead engine, straddling the front fender green flag....That will thin those varmints out!
What was weird was how spread out the pack already was by the time they reached the first turn in 450 moto one.

In Indiana it would have become a three-foot pile of soup.

Here's what my shoes looked after traversing some of the muddier areas while shooting yesterday...

The spray of mud from the front line covered the lens and they lost vision. I remember that being the weirdest feeling, going totally dark inside the goggle and trying to pull the knob with the gas still on.

It amazed me how many had google issues, the most important thing in a mud race. Preparing rolloffs for water is a art form, the film will stick to the lens and leave you screwed.

At Helvetia Park, in Sacramento, our 1st turn was an oak tree with an old mattress tied to it.
Did it spawn a forum thread suggesting that the trees were too close to the track, and needed to be cut down? Wink
