Will Roger have a say in the 350 vs 450 for next year? Will KTM keep the 350 for whoever they sign?

scooter looks slower-n-hell, AC must be godlike to ride as fast as he does on the same slug that mike is riding

I really expect to see people splitting the year. 350 indoors and 450 out.

Was AC's works bike that much better than Alessi's this year? I guess it was since AC took the championship home and Alessi struggled to get top 10 in motos. I think Mike got sucked hard in the 350 and it killed his mojo from last year.

Your anti-KTM shtick is getting old. You really need to get some new material.

Mike's 350 looked pretty fast on the long straight start at GH.

I think the 350 is going to work well in SX.

got a chance to ride one yesterday at estreet mx, bike is very fast(had full fmf), honestly feels like it almost pulls as hard as my 450, def lacks the low end, but that thing revs hard. I also thought it handles very well, although it felt under sprung for me. Even though I think it weighs the same as my 09cr450, it felt 5-10 pounds lighter. I wouldn't feel like i was at any disadvantage racing 450's

And it's nice to see KTM sticking with the steel frame!

I know most people here will have ali framed bikes but really, is there any reason for aluminium frames to exist?

Nothing up with the 350, Mike just isn't the rider you all seem to think he is. Yeah he has had some good rides but the big picture is he is a top ten guy every week with some good rides here and there.

If I was looking for a four stroke, I'd love the 350 (if I could reasonably make it lighter). But if I was a top level pro, I'd want a 450. Simple as that.

I wouldn't bet on KTM USA using the 350 outdoors next year. I am sure that the 450 is much less expensive to maintain.

As the guy said above, it won't actually "feel" as heavy as a 450, even though its around the same weight as the CRF.....smaller motors make the bike feel lighter due to less rotating mass working against you in corners etc..

Holy Crap! Why don't they make it lighter? You have to wonder what these moron factories are thinking.

Is Mike riding a slug or does he just have the wrong type of riding style for that bike? Stewart could beat most 250cc guys on his 125 because of the way he rode it. Mike Alessi never struck me as the type of guy who could ring a bike for all it's worth. Just a small light guy with good reflexes.

There is no way that bike is "slow as hell" - that's ridiculous based on KTM's past ability to build the strongest motors in class.

100ccs does not mean much. Maybe at their level, every CC counts, but a rider's ability should be able to overcome that and make up the difference.

It probably should be lighter, but all of the full size KTMs are identical in contents. A smaller bore of the cylinder isn't going to drop any weight... well...I stand corrected...this KTM motor looks like it is entirely its own.

The 350 is going to do great things for AM riders. I'm loving mine. Feels much lighter than my 450 and closer to my 250f. Bike handles awesome. I don't feel at a disadvantage whatsoever.

I'm 6' 1", 180lbs, and the bike has been a HOLESHOT MACHINE for me too! I've raced to twice now with cement and dirt starts. Biggest lie about the bike is that you won't get tired on it. After not riding all summer...I fade hard after a couple laps haha.

Do you honestly think that companies aren't trying to make the bikes as light at possible? Since you have it figured out, I'm guessing your personal 450 weights 220 pounds with gas. You mind sharing some of your infinite knowledge?

So I guess you think the 350 is as light as they can possibly make it?

A bike with 8hp less than all the other bikes on the line is a big disadvantage in outdoor mx. In supercross, the 350 will probably be okay.

I really don't get how it could be at a big disadvantage. The 450 motors are only lightly modified and generally only to put the power where the rider wants it. If the 350 was modified to the level of a PC 250f, I really can't see it being at a disadvantage.

Most of the 450's on the line at any given National are making 65hp+. There is no way on earth a 350 can be hopped up to make that kind of power without spinning it at 15k+ rpm, which is beyond the limits of the current valvetrain designs, so yes, the 350 is at a big disadvantage outdoors.

I'm not sure why people think that in Supercross the 3Fifty would be ok, there will be some obstacles right out of corners that the bigger 4s would have an advantage pulling over......From the sounds of it, a 3Fiddy makes power like a lites bike but much more of it, it needs to be revved! Its not going to pull hard off the bottom like a 4Fifty would........

oh btw sorry i am spelling the word fifty, the comp im using atm the number Five on the keyboard seems to be stuck or something, lol

Supercross is all about timing, not power. The reason the 350 should work indoors is the engineers can tune the power for more bottom/midrange, as opposed to peak hp. Combined with the smaller crank of the 350, they should end up with a better turning, more maneuverable bike. I don't know if it will be great, but it should work okay in SX

It's a first year bike. Give them another year or two to tweak the power and shed some weight.

And put some more riders on it. Not really fair to judge it just off of MA's results.

BTW - what happened to MA at Pala. At one point in the 2nd moto I think the ticker showed him waaaaay back in the pack. Crash?

They need to shrink all the bikes down to 350, IMO. Bust the 250s down to 200s

1st moto mike got stung by a bee on 3rd lap right on the neck. He is allergic so you can imagine how fun that was. 2nd moto. Well he had some major "bike issues" . Let's just leave it at that. One thing I know is what happenned would never happen under Roger D's watch. So hopefully that improves real quick after he takes over. Roger will get it fixed.
