Just bought a 1987 cr 250. Bike is in relatively good shape. I bought it to race a few big vintage events and am looking for tips. Over the winter I am going to tear it down and restore it but for now just looking to see if anyone has any set up tips such as how to get the bars more forward etc. any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am heading to Unadilla next weekend for the rewind event. Can anyone recommend a place where I can get number plates or even better pre-printed backgrounds?

You can get new Plates from UFO. The only preprinted backgrounds I saw when doing my 87 CR125 restore were in the Europe, so I just bought the plain rectangle sheets and cut my own.

You can get pre-printed backgrounds, graphics, fender stickers and seat covers from these guys. They ship all over and have great products.

I've bought pre printed backgrounds for my 86,89, and 91 500's within the past year. They can make them as well, call and talk to Matt.
