Musquin Finishes 2nd at Washougal Motocross National

Washougal, WA – Red Bull KTM Factory rider Marvin Musquin finished 2nd overall at the Washougal Motocross National, round nine of the 250 Pro Motocross Championship Series.

Rain early in the morning had made the course quite muddy by the start of the first moto. It did not hinder Musquin who was able to get off to a 3rd place start at the gate drop of moto one. He moved into 2nd position on lap two after the leader went down. From that point on, Musquin began to pressure Cooper Webb for the lead position. With four laps to go, Musquin was able to reel him in and make the pass stick. Musquin took over the lead and went on to take the first moto win.

In moto two, Musquin repeated his first moto start and came around the first lap in 3rd place. He remained in that position until the twelfth lap of the race where he was able to move into 2nd place. He tried to close the gap on the lead rider but came up short and settled for 2nd. His 1-2 moto finishes earned him 2nd overall for the day.

“I felt really good today,” stated Musquin. “I always enjoy this track and the rain made it challenging but fun. I would have liked to take the win here today but I am glad to have earned some points in the championship and narrow that gap.”

At the end of the day, Musquin had closed the point gap in the championship standings to only 4 points behind leader Jeremy Martin.

Musquin’s Red Bull KTM Factory teammate, Justin Hill, had another rough day. He did not get a good start in the first moto and had to toss his goggles on the second lap. He came into the pits for new goggles and began to make some passes. He was able to climb from a 24th place start to 13th by the moto end.

In the second moto, Hill again had a rough start. This time he was 28th after the first lap. He again charged forward and made some important passes to work up to 13th. His 13-13 scores earned him 13th overall for the day.
