Bel-Ray Racing-Weekend Racing Preview– April 19, 2012

Bel-Ray’s teams of professional racers will be competing this weekend in Motocross, Supercross, World Superbike, and ATV racing.

Championship
point leader Carlos Checa and his Althea Racing teammate, Davide
Giugliano, come to the historic TT circuit in Assen,
Netherlands for the third round of the 2012 World Superbike
Championship Series. Following a successful second round in Imola,
commanding victories in both races of the event, Checa is poised to
extend his winning streak. “Last year we did well at the TT circuit,
a win and a third,” said Checa. “We’ll be aiming for similar results
again this time around,” he added. Teammate Giugliano has also had
success at the Dutch circuit. In 2011 he was the winner of this event in
the Superstock 1000 class and is confident coming
into this weekend’s event.

Following
a 3 week break the FIM World Motocross Series continues at the Gorna
Rositza track in Sevlievo, Bulgaria. Following a disappointing
round 1 in Valkenswaard, Bel-Ray’s MX1 class Team CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit riders Christophe and Sebastein Pourcel hope to rebound with good
results this weekend. In contrast, Bel-Ray’s MX2 class entry, Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit
racers
Tommy Searle and Joel Roelants battled all day long with each other,
swapping second and third positions in each moto. Searle has had success
in Sevlievo in the past. He was the winner
in 2008, runner up in 2011 and should be a threat to win this weekend.
Roelants struggled at the Bulgarian circuit in 2011, but his results and
strong performance at the opening round in Valkenswaard should add to
his confidence this weekend.

The
AMA Supercross series is in the home stretch with only three rounds
remaining. The Dodge/ Sycuan Casino/ Hart and Huntington/
Bel-Ray racing team comes into this weekend’s round at Qwest Field in
Seattle, Washington with a new rider. The 2011 and 2012 Arenacross
Champion, Tyler Bowers, joins the team for the final races of the series
as a replacement for the injured Josh Hansen.
Bowers’ teammate, Kyle Regal, continues to show improvement each week
aboard the teams Kawasaki. Regal is also a replacement rider, having
joined the team following Kyle Partridge’s injury in St. Louis earlier
this season. Bowers spoke about the chance to
join the team as an amazing opportunity that he is grateful for and
hoping to capitalize on. Look for Bowers, #74, in the mix during this
weekend’s racing action. The West Coast Lites championship resumes with
Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki’s Martin Davalos
and Jason Anderson returning to action from the break in their series.

Round
2 of the 2012 ATV MX National Championship series continues following a
three week break in the action. The Muddy Creek circuit
in Blountville, Tennessee will host the best ATV racers in the nation
and Bel-Ray sponsored Josh Upperman of the Baldwin Motorsports/PEP
Racing team will be a top contender in the ATV Pro Class. Following a
holeshot in each moto at round one in Georgia, Upperman
turned consistent laps to earn third overall with 3-3 moto finishes. He
comes to Muddy Creek with an increased desire to move up on the podium
this weekend.
