Part 1
Remember the election in 2006?
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.10 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
7) Food prices skyrocketing over 30% in 1 year.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember, it is Congress that makes the laws and spends our money -not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this: Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. Read on...

But, there is little doubt we would spend a lot of money on illegals no matter where the money goes. If it's for border protection, that still a lot of money. Bottomline, that money will be spent related to this issue.
As far as dealing with the truth, you wouldn't know it if it kicked you in the nuts based on the flip-flopping and complete fabrications you've posted over the past couple of years.
B. I DO remember that before Bushco invaded Iraq, gas was $1.50 a gallon. That war is the single largest factor for the boost in gas prices. The instability in the middle-east caused by Bushco's war has driven the speculation market into the stratosphere.
C. Welfare programs are a drop in the bucket in relation to the overall budget.
D. The implication that Obama rolling back Bush's tax cuts affecting anyone but the top 5% of wage earners is completely false.

Yeah, I know that simplistic, but the fact remains that you can't compare a tax rate that resulted in a balanced budget and a tax rate that results in 1/2 trillion dollar per year borrowing to keep government running. It's not just an apples and oranges comparison - it's an apples and rocks comparison.
You are correct: The demo congress has not had much to do with the recent economic decline. Bill Clinton is due to his low-income / subprime morgage bill that relaxed regulations on lenders.

Not true. In 1997 welfare was 1% or the Fed budget and 2% of states. That is no drop in the bucket.

If you make $250K, you'll pay slightly higher taxes. If you don't - which includes most of us - you won't.
You'll be able to see thru it. That is what my point was. When you look at the whole budget, the 1% that goes to welfare IS a drop in the bucket.
And that's what gets the righties all wound up.

Let us image the scope of the budget vs the pie being equal. Did you do it? Can you see it (in your head of course)? OK, now that pie is the size of North America right? Cut 1 little tinny "drop in the bucket" percent out of it. What do you have? Enough pie to drown Micheal Phelp's and all the other swimmer @ the olympics.
Another example:
1% of 1.00 = 1 cent (no very much, in fact if you put it on a train track and squish it; you can almost see through it.)
1% of 1 billion = $10,000,000 (now we are talking)
1% of 3 trillion = $30,000,000,000 (This is your drop in the bucket; Try to see thru that)
Since it was the rich guys who have benefited the last 8 years, its only fair that it's on them to pay up.
Most people benefited over the last 8 year. Many have been given opportunities they never had before and my never see again. But, not just the rich benefited.
