ARE WE STUPID OR WHAT?

It makes you wonder.......

Part 1
Remember the election in 2006?

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.10 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
7) Food prices skyrocketing over 30% in 1 year.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember, it is Congress that makes the laws and spends our money -not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Part 2:
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.HTML

Taxes under CLINTON-1999 Taxes under BUSH-2008

Single earning: Single earning:

30K - taxed- $ 8,400 30K - taxed $ 4,500
50K - taxed $ 14,000 50K - taxed $ 12,500
75K - taxed $ 23,250 75K - taxed $ 18,750

Married earning: Married earning:

60K - taxed $ 16,800 60K - taxed $ 9,000
75K - taxed $ 21,000 75K - taxed $ 18,750
125K - taxed $ 38,750 125K - taxed $ 31,250

Barack Obama promises to return to the higher tax rates if elected. It is amazing how many people who fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever.

If elected, Barack Obama has already promised that he will repeal the Bush tax cuts, and amazingly, a good portion of the people who fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen.

PART 3:

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this: Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. Read on...

I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

I think the ensuing construction crunch will send some packing and discourage some from heading over. It may be the land of milk and honey, but if the bees and cows aint working, there won't be much to go around. Smile

there's no doubt we spend a lot of money on illegals.

But, there is little doubt we would spend a lot of money on illegals no matter where the money goes. If it's for border protection, that still a lot of money. Bottomline, that money will be spent related to this issue.

As far as dealing with the truth, you wouldn't know it if it kicked you in the nuts based on the flip-flopping and complete fabrications you've posted over the past couple of years.

A. It is asinine to blame the 'Democratic Congress' for anything that has happened in the last 2 years, as the slim majority they have doesn't mean diddly.

B. I DO remember that before Bushco invaded Iraq, gas was $1.50 a gallon. That war is the single largest factor for the boost in gas prices. The instability in the middle-east caused by Bushco's war has driven the speculation market into the stratosphere.

C. Welfare programs are a drop in the bucket in relation to the overall budget.

D. The implication that Obama rolling back Bush's tax cuts affecting anyone but the top 5% of wage earners is completely false.

If I don't intend to pay my family's bills, I can live on very little money. If the government doesn't intend to pay its bills, it can run on very little taxes. Under Bush taxes were lower but the bills didn't get paid - when Bush took office, the national debt was 5.6 trillion dollars. Today it's 10 trillion dollars. If we're paying only 3% on that 4.4 trillion dollars, that comes to 132 billion dollars a year interest. So take that 132 billion dollars that has to be paid perpetually and recalculate the REAL tax rate.

Yeah, I know that simplistic, but the fact remains that you can't compare a tax rate that resulted in a balanced budget and a tax rate that results in 1/2 trillion dollar per year borrowing to keep government running. It's not just an apples and oranges comparison - it's an apples and rocks comparison.

Point A)
You are correct: The demo congress has not had much to do with the recent economic decline. Bill Clinton is due to his low-income / subprime morgage bill that relaxed regulations on lenders.

Point Cool
I agree instabuility in the middle-east is driving the cost of fuel.

Point C)
Not true. In 1997 welfare was 1% or the Fed budget and 2% of states. That is no drop in the bucket.

Point D)
Unless you own a small business. I do own a small business.

Point D) Whether you own a small business or not, your taxes won't go up unless you make > 250K. And Obama's spending increases have been paired up with spending cuts to make the programs budget neutral. That's what Obama was talking about as "pay as you go". McCain hasn't made the same effort - his additional spending (which is just as high as Obama's) isn't connected to tax cuts.

If you make $250K, you'll pay slightly higher taxes. If you don't - which includes most of us - you won't.

Cut a slice of pie 1% thick.

You'll be able to see thru it. That is what my point was. When you look at the whole budget, the 1% that goes to welfare IS a drop in the bucket.

And that's what gets the righties all wound up.

"Obama wants to raise taxes on the top 5% by 3% to give to the welfare mothers.'

1% of the total budget. Sheesh!

If you have no inside knowledge, then your 'fact' is really a 'guess'

Yes, your are correct. Probably wouldn't be large enough to taste.

But...

Let us image the scope of the budget vs the pie being equal. Did you do it? Can you see it (in your head of course)? OK, now that pie is the size of North America right? Cut 1 little tinny "drop in the bucket" percent out of it. What do you have? Enough pie to drown Micheal Phelp's and all the other swimmer @ the olympics.

Another example:

1% of 1.00 = 1 cent (no very much, in fact if you put it on a train track and squish it; you can almost see through it.)

1% of 1 billion = $10,000,000 (now we are talking)

1% of 3 trillion = $30,000,000,000 (This is your drop in the bucket; Try to see thru that)

We have to pay for Bush's big ideas some way, never mind what Obama might do.

I benefited a great deal over the last 8 year. I started my company 8 years ago. Business was good. Paid a lot of bill off and lived within my means. But far from rich.

"They have it.........I want it.........therefore, I vote Obama"

It just boggles my mind the way some people think.
Why is it okay when the money transfers from the middle class to the uber-wealthy due to tax policy and the like but not the other way?

Bullshit. You can't transfer money that they don't pay. The upper 5% pay more tax than every other group combined.

No, they don't. Once their taxes are upped to Obama's level, the top 5% (who make 30% of the money) will pay 40% of the taxes. That still leaves 60% that everyone else pays, and that's under Obama's plan. So yes, actually, you can. My question stands.
