2016 California Classic Highlights 1

The Official Pala Raceway was the site of this year 2X Promotions California Classic and it was a completely new track built specifically for the event. We showed up late Wednesday night and walked the track in the dark with only our iPhones for a light source. The shear amount of work involved in building this obstacle ridden course was overwhelming and we didn’t get the whole picture until the sun came up the next morning and we got our first glimpse at the full layout. Tight and challenging are the best two descriptions of the new track and you could see that even the top riders found it a challenge to find the best lines as practice started Thursday. As the day went on and the venders got all set up Pala resembled more a National raceday track with several professional team rigs, tons of venders and even more RV’s parked on every flat sport around the track. Nestled in the rolling hills, the view is one of the best to surround a track in California. The weather started to roll in with deep dark clouds slowly moved in and offered a little rain now and again, keeping the track in prime condition all weekend. Racers showed up from all over the country to test their skills against other top riders in their class and at any time you could go and watch a battle ensuing on the track. 2X Promotions had a live feed going and we would get texts throughout the day from friends watching the coverage online, giving the racing an even more professional feeling. Also, if a rider finished on the podium they got the opportunity to see what it feels like to be a pro by bringing their bike onto a podium and getting an interview by the announcer. The riders would get to thank their sponsors and hold up their winnings for everyone to see, just a great experience for any rider. We did our best to capture as much of the weekend as possible and offer a recap of the racing that took place. We don’t get the podium but would like to thank 2X Promotions to allowing us the opportunity to be apart of this event, it was definitely a great time.
