What's the i in TE 250i? Talking about Husqvarna's Port Injected Two-Strokes 11

While on a recent trip to British Columbia to test out the new port injected two-stroke enduro bikes from Husqvarna, we sat down to chat with their staff about the technology itself. Ranging from the actual type of injection we're dealing with on these models, how it differs from their four-stroke brethren, how long it's been in development, how clean they actually run and even if we'll see plated two-strokes in California again?...this and more is inside this interview. For a little background action, we utilized some great walk around video of the machines in question that Husqvarna provided us from the event and overlaid it with our interview, enjoy.

Here's an idea. Manufacture 2-strokes from designs & technology borrowed from the 1980's & drop the price $8,000. No muss, no fuss.

The first person that has to replace that fill tube in the frame for the oil canister is going to slit their wrists.

Wow! This has blown me away this morning. Nice to see Husky / KTM take the 2 strokes as serious as they do. Wondering when/ if it'll hit the TC model's one of these days.

This engine design won't be clean enough. They would need actual direct inject two strokes and the Husqvarna rep said those designs were to large and heavy for what consumers wanted in a lightweight dirt bike. The port inject engine here is cleaner than any other two stroke off road machine but not good enough for road use yet.

Yup! Right now this passes Euro4, which is why they are having to do this. Euro5, this will still fail.
