Overall Review
On the heels of their MXR announcement and intro just a few months ago, Alta Motors has taken the same upgraded battery pack and controller units to add to their EX line, creating the EXR. The 2019 RedShift EXR is Alta's do anything machine, as it's their competitor for the dual sport/enduro market. Street legal in any state, the EXR is meant to be ridden in the dirt, on the street, and anywhere in between. It's truly amazing how far the Alta crew has come since we saw its predecessor, BRD, and then the first version of the Alta at the AIMExpo in 2014. Vital MX: On the heels of announcing a massive price reduction on their existing lineup of RedShift models for 2018, including $4500 off the MX model, Alta has released a top-of-the-line version called the MXR. The main updates focus around the battery pack and drive motor, producing 50 horsepower and 147 foot pounds of torque, up eight hp and 27 ftlbs over the prior model. Beyond that, a switch from WP's 4CS to AER 48 air fork along with shock updates are focused around improving the ride of the bike.
