Jeff Stanton Joins Dunlop Legends

Making it to the top in motocross is one thing; staying on top is another beast altogether. Few racers in the history of the sport can match the success that Jeff Stanton had during the prime of his career in the late 1980s and early 1990s. One of America’s all-time-great motocross heroes, Stanton’s achievements include 37 combined Motocross and Supercross race wins; three AMA 250 National championships; three AMA 250 Supercross championships; two World Supercross titles; and three-time member of the winning U.S. Motocross des Nations team.

Stanton’s reputation includes the relentless, no-prisoners approach he took toward racing and winning, and the incredible work ethic he brought to training. He will long be remembered for being one of the hardest-working riders in the history of the sport. His legacy continues to shine as many of today’s motocross stars name Stanton as one of their inspirations for racing.

Now, Stanton joins some of the biggest names in the sport by taking his place among the Dunlop Legends. The image of Stanton in this Dunlop Legends poster was taken at the 1989 Daytona Supercross, and it was his first of four consecutive Daytona wins.

“Dunlop has supported some of the most legendary racers in history, and this is a great opportunity to give back to the sport through the Road 2 Recovery Foundation,” said Dunlop Vice President Mike Buckley.

Road 2 Recovery lends financial assistance to injured motorcycle racers. The limited-edition, collectible, 19-by-26-inch Jeff Stanton poster—as well as all the Dunlop Legends posters—is available through the Road 2 Recovery Foundation Web site (www.road2recovery.com). To purchase, visit road2recovery.com or call 480-276-1131.

Legends Background

Back in 2005 Dunlop decided to offer a series of high-quality collector-edition Legends posters, with the net proceeds benefiting injured riders. Printed in black and white on heavy 19-by-26-inch art paper, these limited-edition suitable-for-framing posters immortalize legendary motorcycle racing champions: David Bailey, Yvon Duhamel, Broc Glover, Bob Hannah, Kent Howerton, Rick Johnson, Wayne Rainey, Kenny Roberts, Bubba Shobert, Jeff Ward, Bruce Ogilvie, Malcolm Smith, Doug Henry and Jeremy McGrath. Produced by Dunlop’s advertising agency, Vreeke & Associates, these historic black-and-white posters feature images—captured by photographers Paul Buckley, Bill Delaney, Gold & Goose, Dave Hawkins and Ken Vreeke—that pay tribute to some of the greatest racers in our sport.
