We got a sneak peek at this new Talon hub today, which features the usual billet aluminum flanges, which are then mated to a carbon fiber center section. They've been undergoing testing with some of the Team Red Bull KTM crew, and they definitely rank high on the trickness scale. We were impressed with its feathery weight, though there's no word on how long it'll be before they make it to market. The price is still being set as well, but it was suggested to us that they may be in the range of, "If you have to ask…" In other words, we'll expect to see these on the bikes of factory guys and well-heeled racers who are looking for every ounce of weight they can shave.
Text from Talon goes like this:
The flagship of the Talon hub range is the carbon-centered hub. This is a totally new and innovative design with aircraft grade aluminum ends bonded onto a carbon fiber centre tube. These new hubs have been used extensively in the World MX Championship by many teams including FACTORY KTM. The aluminum ends are available in different colors to suit each manufacturer or to suit your personal color scheme. These hubs offer a significant weight saving over the stock item and with Talons world renown strength/durability and value for money, this really is the trickest hub available.
