Despite thinking I was invincible, in July 2010 I crashed and burned. It wasn't a hard fall, but as I was rag dolling on the ground I managed to dislocate a bone in my left wrist, tearing a few ligaments in the process. Emergency room. Splint. Surgery. Pins. Pain pills. Several casts. Five months off the bike… Ouch.

After a year of healing and therapy, this is my current range of motion. It isn't much, so I need some sort of wrist support in order to ride.
Thanks to Allsport Dynamics (aka my lifesaver), I've been back on the bike since December. Whether I'm riding at the track, on the desert, or on the trails, I never get on a bike without the OH2 Wrist Brace. It's one of the few must have items in my gear bag.

The bi-axial, articulating hinge is perfect for many types of wrist injuries. It is anatomically-accurate and fit the bill perfectly for my situation.
Simply put, extending my wrist beyond this point hurts. Luckily it's possible to adjust the brace to match my range of motion.

Adjustments are made using the variable extension control shown here, which allows anywhere from zero to 60 degrees of wrist extension. Because it's adjustable, the brace continues to work well as I progress with my recovery. It's always a joy to slide it back another notch, knowing I'm that much closer to where I was.

The OH2 Brace is hand made using high-strength carbon fiber and Kevlar construction, which means it's going to hold up in the event of another crash and provide the support I need.

The "Easy-Pull" strapping system is pretty clever. Laces run through several grommets and are tensioned by pulling a single strap. Everything is neat and orderly, and because of this it's unlikely that the laces will get snagged when riding. When I first got the brace, I was concerned that arm pump might be an issue. Provided I don't snug it up too tightly, I haven't found it to be a problem.

The real beauty of the OH2 brace is that it can be integrated with a glove so that there is no bulky material between your hand and the handlebar. Allsport can add the pocket to any glove.

Prior to receiving the OH2, I used the Allsport Dynamics IMC brace extensively. It's a less expensive option than the OH2 with many similar features. Major differences include the extension control mechanism, brace material (injection molded composite vs carbon fiber), and the IMC has a slightly higher profile than the OH2.

Left or right? If you choose to run the brace without a glove, you simply cut the palm strap depending on what wrist the brace is needed for.

It's difficult to find a fault in the Allsport Dynamics line of braces. However, after nearly nine months of heavy use, the palm strap on the IMC model has begun to show some wear. It's still fully functional, though.
