After running in second spot for the early part of the race, Dean Wilson took over the lead on lap six. He looked like he was on cruise control, and more importantly his closest pursuer in the championship chase, Tyla Rattray, had started in seventh spot. While he was working his way forward, if he finished in fourth or higher, Dean would clinch the 250 crown before Pala.
