U.S. fans were a bit disheartened early on, as Trey Canard (USA) was taken down in a first turn crash with Zach Osborne (Team Puerto Rico). Zach's handlebar was stuck in Trey's back wheel, and it took a while to extract. Trey came around the first turn in 27th place. But he kept charging, and made it to 11th at the end, and was catching Josh Coppins (New Zealand).
