Ken Roczen (RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing) was 13th at the end of lap one, and was working hard to catch Justin Barcia, who he was trialing for second overall in the 450 standings. He came through with a third-place finish in the first moto, to Barcia's seventh.
