Ricky Carmichael (left) set a blistering pace early in the first moto after his lap one crash. After being nearly last on the start, he moved to 23rd by the end of the first lap. By lap five, he blitzed past MX2 World Champ Antonio Cairoli for ninth, and eventually finished third.
