The Foundation had announced 60 nominees for 20 awards for the Made in the U.S.A. Hall of Fame. The 2012 nominees feature energy-efficient vehicles, including electric cars and motorcycles, solar panels and more. Judging was based on three criteria: “quality”, “competitiveness” and “impact.” “Quality” comparisons included use ofConsumer Reports, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (awarded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology) and other evaluating entities. A company’s “competitiveness” criteria included industry comparisons with imports and ability to export. For “impact” evaluation, the judges looked for a company’s commitment to breakthroughs in technology, a new product or exceptional designs.

The Made In The U.S.A. Foundation works to promote United States-based manufacturing and the critical role domestic manufacturing plays in the creation of sustainable United States jobs. The Made In The U.S.A. Foundation’s Hall of Fame celebrates businesses who exhibit excellence in United States-based manufacturing practices and standards.
