Press Release

Youthstream’s freight support for the 2013 overseas events

FUNCHAL (Portugal), 24 November 2012 – According to the previous announcement, the 2013 overseas events will adopt a new racing system, where the top 15 MX1 and top 15 MX2 riders in the world will race together during the whole MXGP, with 10 additional riders regardless their class (MX1 or MX2).

Youthstream would like to clarify the selection process of the teams who will receive the freight support:

The teams’ selection for who will receive the freight support from Youthstream for the 1st and 2nd Grand Prix events (Qatar and Thailand) is made with the following principle:

15 riders from each class (MX1 and MX2) will be entered and supported for the overseas events. For the first event(s) (being an overseas event) of the season (like 2013 with Qatar and Thailand), the selection will be based on the factory team’s presence, on the last 3 years' results of the OATs and the 2013 request of participation to the FIM Motocross World Championship. This is because if we take only the previous year's results some riders may have changed teams and some top riders can be affected for 1 year due to injury, but by considering the above points we can respect more the teams' investments, the sporting results and the reality.

In addition:
The 2012 European 250 Champion will receive 200kg.
2nd in the 2012 European 250 Championship will receive 100kg.
3rd in the 2012 European 250 Championship will receive 100kg.
The 2012 European 125 Champion will receive 100kg.

For the other two overseas events, in Brazil and Mexico, the division of the freight support will be based on the last Grand Prix event before the concerned overseas events (the top 10 MX1 with 300kg of freight each and from 11 to 15 MX1 with 200kg each; the top 10 MX2 with 200kg and from 11 to 15 with 100kg).
