World’s Top Freestyle Motocross Riders to Square off at Best Trick Competition at Monster Energy Cup

$40,000 Up for Grabs – Winner Takes All

AURORA, Ill. (September 6, 2011) – Feld Motor Sports®
announced today that the inaugural Monster Energy Cup on October 15 at
Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium will feature a Best Trick Freestyle
Motocross Competition Presented by Dirt Shark.

This
one-trick, go-for-broke-freestyle-motocross competition features the
world’s top freestyle motocross riders, including Taka Higashino,
Jackson Strong, Mark Monea, Kyle Loza, and Cam Sinclair. Built into the
highly anticipated Monster Energy Cup’s diverse racing line up, the Best
Trick competition has the potential to steal the show. These elite
freestyle motocross riders will push the limits as they pull out all of
the stops to win Best Trick.

Loza, a three-time
Best Trick gold medalist at the X-Games, is a true pioneer to the FMX
scene, having become the first and only rider to win back-to-back gold
medals at the X Games. Loza is known for conceiving tricks such as “The
Volt” and “Electric Doom.”

“I'm
always working on a few new tricks because it's important for me to
constantly be challenging myself, but the trick I'm bringing to Vegas is
the only trick that breaks bones in the foam pit,” said Loza. “It took
me out on the day of x games by trying to take my thumb off so we have a
score to settle.”

Higashino
is an original Metal Mulisha cast member on the Nuclear Cowboyz
freestyle motocross theatrical production and will join the tour for its
third season in 2012.
Best known
for his double-seat grab Indy backflip, Higashino, of Osaka, Japan, has
competed in four X Games competitions, earning a career-best third
place during the 2010 Best Trick event.  Higashino won his first Dew
Tour event in 2010 and has continued to dominate the FMX scene.

“I
want to give it my all and have fun at the Monster Energy Cup,” said
Higashino. “I am looking forward to competing at this event for the fans
and my sponsors. It’s going to be fun laying it on the line for the
best trick.”

Strong,
of Lockhart, Australia, became the youngest rider ever to backflip a
full-size dirt bike. During this time Strong also became the fourth
person in history to land an 85-ft frontflip, and the first-ever to
perform this trick ramp-to-ramp. In 2011, Strong became the first rider
to land a frontflip at the X Games, ultimately taking home the first
gold medal of his career.

“I’m
really pumped to be going up against the top freestyle riders at the
Monster Energy Cup,” exclaimed Strong. “It’s always fun to see everybody
busting out their latest tricks or debuting new ones. The Monster
Energy Cup Best Trick event is going to be the perfect environment for
us to showcase our inventory. I have been working on a new combo trick
and have been waiting for the right moment to reveal it.”

Monea,
of Victoria, Australia, is the first and only rider to successfully
land a frontflip 360, which he later tagged as the “Carry On.” Monea was
formerly a mechanic for fellow Australian buddy and X Games gold
medalist Cameron Sinclair before his FMX career ignited. Having showed
up empty-handed at the 2011 X Games, good chance the Australian native
will take another shot at stomping the Carry On.

“Winning
FMX at the Monster Energy Cup would be the biggest moment in my career
for sure, especially because I am a Monster athlete,” said Monea. “I
love being a part of it and competing with the best in the world. It’s a
huge buzz for me. I want to land the Carry On again.”

Cameron
Sinclair, of Pearcedale, Australia, was the first FMX rider to ever
land a double backflip in a freestyle run. Sinclair also holds the world
record for landing the longest ramp-to-ramp backflip of 129 ft. Having
competed in two X Games, earning gold and bronze medals, Sinclair will
be keeping his competitors honest in the best trick contest.

“It’s
a huge honor to compete in the Monster Energy Cup Best Trick
Competition,” said Sinclair.” This event has been so hyped up all year –
one of the biggest events on the calendar. To win the very first one
would be amazing. I’d love to get that title beside my name!”

The
unique hybrid track will consist of supercross/motocross terrain and
will have a tremendous motocross-style influence, making it unlike any
other stadium race in the world. This track will be the perfect blend of
supercross and motocross combined and created into the ultimate
battleground. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the
winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and for the “first time ever”
$1 million will be paid to a rider that wins all three main events.

Tickets
for the 2011 Monster Energy Cup can be purchased at the Thomas &
Mack Center Box Office, UNLVtickets outlets, online at www.UNLVtickets.com, www.MonsterEnergyCup.com,  or by phone at (702) 739-FANS. Tickets will be available at the Sam Boyd Stadium Box Office on the day of the event only.
