Press Release

Windham / Wharton / Blose / Stephenson / Evans / Rusk on DMXS Radio Tonight!

Geico Powersports / Honda’s Kevin Windham wasn’t even truly considered for the championship at the beginning of last year, but brought it down to the final race in Las Vegas after an impressive and consistent SX season. This year the popular veteran will not have the luxury of flying under the radar as the fans expect him up there battling for the podium every round. His signature smooth style was a perfect match for the technical and rough Anaheim 2 track and was rewarded with a trip to the box.

As the AMA Supercross Lites East season kicks off this weekend in Houston, a new batch of rookies will make their stadium debuts. Geico Powersports / Honda’s Blake Wharton will be one of the heralded amateur talents that is already being mentioned for the championship. Blake and his hair will stop by for two separate interviews tonight.

Every season a rider overcomes the underdog’s status and proves himself worthy on the track with results over hype. This year Troy Lee Designs’ Chris Blose is scripting his own ABC After School Special season with consistent and well-earned results. The fans love pulling for an underdog and Chris is a great kid and easy to pull for.

Racer X’s Bad Billy Ursic is a core fan of the sport and with more riding talent than most of the journalists put together, I truly respect his eye for talent. He’s been impressed with TiLube / Fly Racing’s Ben Evans and wanted the kid to get some love. Ben is currently 8th in the ultra-stacked AMA SX Lites West after three rounds going into the break. We look forward to catching up with the former Loretta Lynn’s Champion.

Denny Stephenson has been around the sport for many years and is still very involved today. The 1990 SX Lites East Champion is now on the other side working with athletes like JGR’s Josh Grant. Denny is also one of the best bench-racers in the pits so we will cover a lot with our good friend on tonight’s show.

Everyone knows how much DMXS loves amateur motocross. We can be found on any given weekend announcing at the races or just there as a fan. We know the sacrifices made by the riders and their families to get to the top and sincerely respect the effort. When we see a kid like Killy (Kealy) Rusk coming up through the ranks, we are reminded of why we fell in love with this sport in the first place. Killy has done well at Loretta Lynn’s in the past and will be riding the 12-16 Schoolboy, Schoolboy Lites, and the competitive 250 Lites B Stock and Mod in 2009. Killy will be working with multi-time champion Jeff Ward this year so remember to keep an eye on #365 in the future.
