Vuillemin Leads U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Pro Privateer Challenge with Six Races Remaining

AURORA, Ill. (March 13, 2007) – Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP announced today that Honda’s David Vuillemin, of Menifee, Calif., leads the Unites States Smokeless Tobacco Company’s (USSTC) top privateer award program, with 144 points over fellow Honda rider and former World Supercross GP champion Heath Voss (137 points), of Mico, Texas.

USSTC, who has been involved in Amp’d Mobile Supercross since 2000, will award $25,000 to the top finishing privateer at the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP finals in Las Vegas. In addition USSTC will award $15,000 to second and $10,000 to third.

“It’s great to see a close three way battle in the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Pro Privateer Challenge among the pro privateers at the mid-point of the season, so it will be very interesting to see who takes command over the next six races and walks away with $25,000 in Las Vegas,” said Jody Deal, 1-on-1 Marketing Manager, Skoal. “We recognize the commitment, perseverance, and determination of the privateer riders and commend their continued contributions to Amp’d Mobile Supercross.”

Vuillemin has eight top 10 finishes this year with his best being a fourth at Vancouver. Currently fifth overall in the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP championship, Vuillemin’s best AMA Supercross Series finish was second in 2002 with three main event wins and 10 podium finishes.

“This is a huge incentive to the hard working privateers competing in Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP,” said Todd Jendro, senior director of supercross, Live Nation. “We still have the second half of the season to complete, and with this tight of a points race, it’s going to be exciting to see who walks away from Las Vegas with the $25,000 from the United States Smokeless Tobacco Company.”

Last year the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company awarded $25,000 to top privateer and Honda rider Nick Wey, of Murrieta, Calif., $15,000 to Honda’s Jason Thomas, of Melrose, Fla., and $10,000 to Honda’s Jeff Gibson, of Blacklick, Ohio, the second and third place finishers respectively in Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP.
