Press Release

Victory for Ramon in Wuustwezel

Steve Ramon looks to have made a
solid recovery to his recent illness as he took a solid victory at the
Wuustwezel International this past weekend.

The day started out strong for the
‘Bomb’ as he posted the fastest time in
qualification.

Grabbing the hole-shot in Moto 1
Ramon was flying out front whilst Ben Townley chased hard in
2nd. As the moto wore on Ramon continued his control of the
pack, leading every lap to take the victory.

Moto 2 was unfortunately not a
great start for the Belgian champ, as he rounded lap 1 only just inside the
top 10. Within no time Ramon was slicing through the field, lap after lap
homing in on the leaders as he posted the fastest lap of the race. At the
chequered flag it was a 3rd place for Ramon, a mere 3 seconds
off the race winner, De Dycker.

Moto 3 marked another hole-shot for
the number 11 Suzuki of Ramon, as he was chased hard by De Dycker. On lap 2
De Dycker got past, but within a few more laps Ramon was back out front and
starting to edge away from the pack. Another superb race win handed Ramon
the overall victory for the day.

Steve Ramon: “A real positive
day. Starting off with the fastest lap time in practice and then a
hole-shot and first moto win. Actually for the second moto I was late
getting to the grid, so they made me start on the second row, and that made
it tough!! I had to ride many different lines to get through the traffic,
but I pushed hard and in the end was right with the leaders. The third moto
was a good feeling. I got another hole-shot, but a few laps in I slipped
out and De Dycker got past, but with a few laps I re-passed him and then
managed to ride my own race. I am happy to feel physically better ahead of
the USA GP next weekend.”
