USGP Kicks Off with a Party at Malcolm Smith Motorsports































May 13, 2011 - Riverside, Calif. - Racers, media, and
fans alike were treated to an exciting and fun night at Malcolm Smith
Motorsports on Thursday, marking the start of weekend-long festivities
for the only U.S.-based World Championship Motocross race in 2011. The
USGP Glen Helen track is fully prepped and ready for an international
spectacle and to showcase the best racers in the world, and many of the
series MX1 and MX2 racers were on hand at Malcolm Smith Motorsports to
talk to the press about the upcoming Round 3 of the series.



A shockwave rippled through the press conference when it was announced
that a $100,000 prize will be awarded to an American racer who wins the
overall the MX1 class this weekend. South Point Hotel and Casino of Las
Vegas put up the prize to entice American racers to compete in the
premier class and to take home the big trophy. Along with the Marty
Moates award, which will award the top-finishing American a $5,000
check, the stakes were raised significantly for a possible $105,000
payday.



MX1 class leader Steven Frossard from France, along with Italian
superstar Antonio Cairoli and scores of other racers answered questions
for the press present and the crowd, who were all clamoring to see and
hear all about the upcoming race. Every racer talked about their
excitement for the weekend's competition, and although some have yet to
see this year's track, they have come to America expecting Glen Helen
to be a great race.



"I'm very excited to be racing at Glen Helen again," KTM's Marvin
Musquin from France said at the conference. "The USGP is always good,
so I'm looking forward to racing this weekend."



Malcolm Smith Motorsports has been the official stop for the USGP
riders for the past two years, and puts on phenomenal events for fans
on a monthly basis. The staff at Malcolm Smith's arranged food,
beverages provided by Monster Energy drinks, and a DJ to get the crowd
excited.



The USGP at Glen Helen takes place May 14 and 15 in San Bernardino,
Calif., and serves as the only North American stop on the World
Motocross Championship circuit.

American
racers Travis Baker and Christian Craig are looking forward to
representing the Troy Lee Designs team. Baker will compete in the MX2
class and Craig will be lining up for the MX1 competition.
