TEUTSCHENTHAL (Germany), 10th July 2011 - The UEM is pleased to announce that for the EMX65 and EMX85 Championships in 2012, Europe will be divided into 4 geographical zones with an appointed co-ordinator to oversee each zone. This has been agreed with the President of Youthstream, Mr Giuseppe Luongo. Youthstream are the promoters of the European Motocross Championship and the UEM works very closely and in harmony with Youthstream in developing the various European motocross championships. More than 80% of the current riders in MX1 and MX2 are European and most have successfully competed in European Championships in the past. The 4 zones are as follows: North West Europe Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The co-ordinator for this zone is Mr. Peter Hansen, Vice Chairman of UEM MX Commission. North East Europe Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. The co-ordinator for this zone is Mrs. Nina Birjukova, UEM Vice President and CMS member. South East Europe Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Boznia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, FYROM, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Kazakhstan, Moldavia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey. The co-ordinator for this zone is Mr Bogdan Nikolov, President of BMF and Balkan Motorcycle Union. South West Europe Andorra, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Portugal, San Marino, Spain and Switzerland. The co-ordinator for this zone is Mr. Paolo Sesti, President of FMI. There will be between 3 and 6 events per zone taking place between April and July 2012. The top 10 riders from each zone will then be invited by Youthstream to compete in the EMX65 and EMX85 Finals, which will be held during the MX1/MX2 GP of Great Britain in August 2012. To ensure that organisers are forthcoming and are not at a financial risk, the decision has been taken to put a rider’s entry fee of 100 Euros per event for these two Championship classes. All entry fees go to the organiser of each event. Splitting Europe into the 4 zones drastically reduces the costs for the parents/sponsors of the young riders and also reduces the time away from the rider’s school and time away from the parent’s work. The Chairman of the UEM Motocross Commission, Mr. Eddie Herd, is delighted with this innovative idea from Youthstream which will give the young riders the opportunity to race on a World famous GP track in front of the team principals, the World’s media and the tens of thousands of spectators and which is a further development of European motocross. For 2011, Youthstream will give much needed support for the Motocross of European Nations to be held on the GP track at Sevlievo, Bulgaria on the 8/9 October 2011, via strong promotion together with television and media coverage. Mr. Eddie Herd thanks Youthstream and the CMS for the continuing support and partnership which is enabling the European Motocross Championships to develop and also increase its role in supplying top riders to enhance the World Championships. The secret of success is a strong and close partnership between Youthstream, the FIM/CMS and the UEM where all partners are linked through respect, are all on the same side and where all decisions are taken together. With the support of Youthstream, it is an undeniable fact that the European Motocross Championship is the best Continental Championship in the World and is the “role model” for other CONUs to follow.
