Los Angeles, California (July 13, 2007) – Travis Pastrana took home an ESPY for Male Action Sports Athlete of the Year, just edging out a host of other deserving candidates. The freestyle motocross legend was also bestowed the honor of presenting an ESPY, an honor reserved for sport’s biggest stars. The 8 time X Games Gold Medalist stood beside world-renown hottie Carmen Electra and presented an ESPY for the first time to the crowd of sporting superstars. In addition to Action Sports Athlete of the Year, Pastrana was also up for an ESPY in the Best Play category for his legendary double back-flip at the 2006 X Games; however he lost to another deserving play, the famed Boise State “Statute of Liberty” play at the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. The ever affable Pastrana was excited with just winning an ESPY and was quick to thank the fans that helped determine who wins an ESPY. “I was just so honored to have been nominated for an ESPY; actually winning is something I’ll never forget. I’m so thankful to all the fans out there who voted for me!” Never one to stay in one place for too long, no sooner had the ESPY’s ended then Pastrana was on a plane to Portland, Maine where he is looking to defend his 2006 Rally America Championship at the New England Rally. After that it’s off to Madrid for Red Bull’s X Fighters and then back to LA for X Games 13 where Travis will look to top his 2006 Gold Medal performance in Rally.
