Thor’s Weimer and Mullins Each Battle For Podium Finishes

This
weekend, Thor’s Jake Weimer was treated to a home race as the Monster
Energy Supercross made its penultimate stop at Rice-Eccles Stadium in
Salt Lake City, Utah, only two hours from Weimer’s childhood town of
Rupert, Idaho. Weimer didn’t disappoint his friends and family in
attendance as he started the night with a heat race win. In the main
event, Weimer started the race in second and was maintaining a fast
pace, not backing down to pressure. Near the end of the race, he was
passed, but still maintained third for his fifth podium finish of the
season.

Broc Tickle started the main event
in ninth, but made a big push to in the opening laps, eventually
finishing the night with his best result of 2012 with a sixth-place
finish. Brett Metcalfe had made his way up to 11th when he got tangled
with another rider, going down and ending his night early.

In the Supercross Lites class, Dean
Wilson opened the night with his sixth heat-race win. In the main
event, Wilson was running in second for a majority of the race, but with
two laps to go, went down when he caught a rut, taking him out of the
race.

Park City, Ky. was host to the
fifth stop on the Grand National Cross Country circuit. The new venue
didn’t seem to be a problem for Thor’s Charlie Mullins, who finished
only 15 second back of the winner for second. Three-time winner Kailub
Russell battled back from a bad start to finish just off the podium in
fourth, while Cory Buttrick finished the day in eighth. Thor’s Maria
Forsberg continued her dominance in the Womens class, earning her
fifth-straight win and remained undefeated this season.
