The Road 2 Recovery Foundation Adds Highlands Motocross Track to the National Ride Day

Scottsdale, AZ - Highlands Motocross Track in Crosby, Texas is the latest track to be added to the Road 2 Recovery Ride Day. The Road 2 Recovery National Ride Day is being held during the month of September to provide a mobile medical unit at the top Amateur Nationals. Realizing that amateurs are the future of motocross, we believe they deserve the same attention as professional athletes while in competition. The onsite medical unit debuted at Loretta Lynn's in 2007 and it provides treatment from qualified trainers and doctors that have a background in motocross injuries. The unit also provides mobile education with information on products that can help prevent injuries.

Mike Lewis, new owner of the Highlands Motocross Track will be hosting the event on Saturday, September 20th. The track is located in Crosby, Texas, just 35 minutes east of downtown Houston. The Park sits on 40 acres with 2 Motocross tracks and a Pit Bike track. All 3 tracks are beginner friendly, as well as challenging for the seasoned rider. The gates will open from 9 AM to 6 PM. Gate fee is $15 with proceeds benefiting the Road 2 Recovery. Participants must have a minimum of $25.00 in pledges to participate. Riders can register and pledges can be made on-line at www.r2rrideday.com. The minimum pledge is $1.00 per lap with a 10 lap minimum. All pledges are tax deductible.

Regionally, all participants are entered into a drawing for 2 Tickets with all day Pit Passes to a 2009 regional SX closest to their home. The winner will be notified on Monday, October 13th. Riders will be awarded prizes based on the number of pledges received.

The Action Sports Medicine Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the quality and availability of sports medicine to athletes participating in action sports. The foundation was formed in 2003 by Dr. Steve Augustine, and is based out of The Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute in Florida . Our desire is to become a quality resource for athletes who are looking to receive sports medicine on site services, and for the various health care workers who are looking to provide these services. The primary sports that we will be serving are motocross, BMX, skateboarding, wakeboarding and surfing. Within this population, we will focus on the amateur athlete. Our goal is to enhance the level of on site medical care at the grass roots level. In so doing, we can develop a healthier and better conditioned group of athletes, thus enabling them to maximize their capabilities and participation in their chosen sports. Secondarily, we feel confident that we can raise the level of understanding of these sports within the medical community, thus enabling other health care practitioners to better deal with the needs of this unique group of athletes. www.asmfjax.com and www.joionline.net.
