Press Release

The 4th Annual 2006 Dodge Amateur Motocross National Is Here

While professional motocross racers relax during the “off-season”, the best amateur riders in the world will be hard at work next week. From October 2nd to October 8th, the 2006 Dodge Amateur National, presented by AMP Racing, will be serious business.

The world’s best amateur racers will descend once again on the Prairie City SVRA in Sacramento, California. Riders are drawn by prestige and top-caliber competition, but also enjoy the opportunity to race the “Hangtown” track the pros do every year—a benefit that’s exclusive to the Dodge Amateur National.

This year’s event will feature a 3-moto championship format. Every rider will race the first two motos of their class. The top 40 overall scorers in the first two will advance to the third moto. Class champions will be determined by the best overall score from all three races. New for this year is the addition of 150cc 4-stroke eligibility in the Supermini class. There will also be an 11-15-year-old Open 4-stroke 150cc class.

In addition to the National Championships on the line, the Dodge Amateur National also includes Factory Contingency from Yamaha, Kawasaki & Suzuki. In addition to championship racing, the event will have many activities available to all who attend, including a Texas Hold ‘em Poker tournament, the Final Lap Tug of War, an XBUX/MXToys MX Unleashed tournament, bull riding, live bands like The Main Event, the FMF Fashion Show with ‘Lil D, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall and Camp DODGE arts & crafts.

Pre-entry is open now through September 25th, 2006. The entry fee is $85.00 per class with pre-entry and $100.00 for post-entry. Gate fees are $10.00 per person, per day or $40.00 for the entire event. Overnight parking will be available at the track and camping is free Monday through Saturday night. Gates will open at 2 PM on Monday October 2nd. Practice will be held on Wednesday, October 3rd. Racing will commence at 7:30 AM, per the schedule, Wednesday through Sunday.
