INDIANAPOLIS (March 20, 2012) – It’s
a singular feat to put a rider into a main event during Monster Energy
AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship. It’s another to do so consistently
on a completely privately-funded team. During the Indianapolis round at
Lucas Oil Stadium on March 17, Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National Switchgear powered by SMS Racing’s Shane Sewell earned his third top fifteen finish this season with a 13th in the East Region Lites main event.

The
AMA Supercross in Indy was not without drama – in fact it made history.
After the DAYTONA Supercross by Honda mud bath where Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National
Switchgear’s Sewell finished an impressive 12th place, something
completely new happened in AMA Supercross. The Indy race was red flagged
on lap five due to a downed rider. This AMA Supercross Lites race was
restart single file, staggered, much like auto racing and flat track,
for the first time in the series history.

Switchgear’s Sewell qualified for the Indy AMA Supercross night
program. However, his teammates Jeremy Hudleston and Sean Lipanovich did not as they continue to recover from injuries and get back to race form on their SMS Racing KTM 250SX-F bikes.

Sewell
lined up for his heat race on the #68 Brian Storrie-prepared KTM
250SX-F. He shot off the starting gate with a solid start thanks to his
DRD titanium exhaust. The primary goal was to cross the finish line jump
in one of nine positions to transfer to the main event. Sewell beat
that goal, thanks to his determination and gearing supplied by
Supersprox, he crossed the finish line in seventh place.

In
the AMA Supercross East Region Lites main event, Sewell in his FLY
Racing gear and FLY Formula helmet had a top 15 start and slipped back
to 17th place before the race was red flagged. After the single file,
staggered restart, Sewell worked his way through the pack taking
advantage of every opportunity. Like he has done at two previous races,
Sewell rode a determined, calculated race. As the checkers flew, he had
worked his way to 13th place.

Shane Sewell’s brother, Travis Sewell, competed for a one-off ride in the premier AMA Supercross class with TeamViolation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com
/National Switchgear at the Indy round. He maximized the opportunity
for an impressive showing in the AMA Supercross class by finishing tenth
in the heat race on his #62 450cc machine, just one spot shy of
transferring to the main event. In the LCQ, Travis Sewell did not fare
as well, though he rode admirably in the dash-orientated race. He will
compete on a SMS Racing KTM 350SX-F for the team at the Houston and New
Orleans rounds.
