Team Redux Beverages/St. Lawrence Radiology Honda Race Recap – presented by Rockwell Watches

Roger’s Centre – Toronto, Canada
March 28th, 2009

Round thirteen of the 2009 AMA Supercross headed to Canada this past weekend for the one and only non-domestic round of this year’s series.  Greeted by fantastic weather and enthusiastic fans, the teams were in for a great weekend of racing.  The only negative of the weekend was the extremely soft soil.  Due to the dirt being frozen upon delivery, the track crew was unable to pack the surface to usual Supercross standards.  Nevertheless, the racing was great and the fans left having witnessed something spectacular.

Phillip Nicoletti was looking to get his series back on track after struggling with crashes and injury the previous week in St. Louis.  Phil set a quick time early in practice one, but just a few laps later he suffered a horrific crash over the triple jump that left him in pain on the soft Toronto soil.  Fortunately, he suffered only minor injuries, including a sprained wrist, which kept him out of competition for the remainder of the evening.  Phil is having his wrist looked over by a specialist today and will make the decision on next weekend’s event in Jacksonville as soon as we have a complete diagnosis.

Jake Marsack has also been looking for a break.  Last weekend in St. Louis he looked to have his transfer position in the bag before Travis Pastrana took them both out of contention with an uncalled for ramming session.  Jake persevered and worked hard during the week to seek redemption in Toronto.

Jake started off with top fifteen practice times and looked to be confident and motivated like we have not seen him in recent weeks.  After struggling in his heat race to 10th position (one spot out of the transfer), he laid it down in the Last Chance Qualifier by passing the likes of Nick Wey, Heath Voss and Bob Kiniry to take the victory and take the transfer to the main event.

By the main, the track was looking rutted and rough.  Jake had a mid-pack start and moved up in the first laps before committing a few costly mistakes in the deep ruts.  He would settle in to 18th position for the remainder of the race, amassing three championship points for his efforts.

Next weekends event will move to a warmer climate and a brand new venue; Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.  Team Redux Beverages/St. Lawrence Radiology Honda will be on hand with plenty of Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator to do battle once again.  For more information or to get your tickets, visit www.amasupercross.com.
