Camarillo, CA (June 20, 2016) – After a week off, Mt. Morris welcomed Team BTO Sport-KTM-WPS for round 4 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series at the historic High Point MX. Heavy rains earlier in the week made the track sticky as the riders took to the track Saturday morning for practice, but dried up leaving the track prime for racing. Team riders Andrew Short, Justin Brayton and Benny Bloss rode strong throughout the day on the chopped up track.

Andrew Short came in to High Point refreshed, as a strong start in moto 1 had him battling inside the top 20 early on. He did not slow down, charging through the field and working his way to a 12th place finish at the checkered flag. Short would come back in moto 2 on the gas, making quick passes early on inside the top 15. He would ride smart throughout the moto, taking the checkered flag in 14th place. His 12-14 moto score claimed him 12th on the day, his best overall this season.

“It was a good day overall” Short said. “I got a good start in the first moto and avoided everyone crashing out there. The track was gnarly, but I rode strong and stayed out of trouble all day. I’m looking forward to bringing this momentum into Tennessee next weekend.”

Justin Brayton’s day didn’t start off easy.  His mid-pack start in the first moto had him battling deep within the field, colliding with another rider early on. That forced him to work double time, as he charged from the back of the 40 rider field for the entire moto to finish 17th. Brayton launched out of the gate in Moto 2 inside the front pack,  utilizing his WP Factory Services suspension, strength and smooth riding style to secure 13th at the checkered flag. His 17-13 score landed him 14th overall for the day.

“It was rough this weekend” Brayton said. “I didn’t get the best start in the first moto and ended up going down. I worked my way through the pack, but had cut my finger in the crash and was hard to hang on. I’ll be good for next week, and will rebound at Tennessee.”

Bloss-HighPoint16

The rough High Point track suited Benny Bloss, putting down the 13th fastest time in the morning practice. He was unable to start the first moto, however, as he was suffering from a migraine headache that affected his vision leading up to the start. For Safety reasons, Bloss and the team decided it would be best for him to sit out the moto. His issue cleared up, and Bloss came out swinging in moto 2. There’s no quit in this kid! He was on the gas from the start, rounding the first turn inside the top twenty. He battled his way up through the field, taking the checkered flag in 16th. Even with his moto 1 misfortune, Bloss ended the day 19th overall.

“It wasn’t the best weekend” Bloss said. “The track suited my style and felt good in practice. While I had an issue in moto 1, I came back to ride strong and on the gas in the second moto. We will get it figured out and come into Tennessee ready.”

Team BTO Sports heads south to Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, TN for round 5 of the 2016 Pro Motocross Championship series this upcoming weekend.
