Strang Makes It Two-In-A-Row for Team FMF Suzuki Off Road

FMF Suzuki Off Road’s Josh Strang clinched his second win at the Big Buck GNCC, round four of the 2009 Grand National Cross Country series, in Union South Carolina, after a grueling 3-hour race. Strang finished the race just seconds ahead of teammate Charlie Mullins who took home third place for Suzuki.

Strang’s victory males him the first repeat winner of the series. "The last two laps were quick," Strang said. "We all three wanted to get in the lead and pull away. It's definitely good to get that second win."

Mullins fired first, nabbing his third holeshot award and was quickly followed by Strang and the rest of the field as they headed into the woods. Mullins held onto the lead for the first few laps and along with Strang, and others traded the lead in and out. As they charged through the dusty track, Strang pulled away from Mullins. From then on, it was Strang and Mullins racing wheel-to-wheel until the finish, until Strang was able to pull a few seconds ahead and take the win with Mullins taking third.

"I felt really good going into that last lap," Mullins said. "The guys were stepping it up though. I'll take third. My holeshots are getting good too. That bike fires right up every time."

Strang’s second victory in only four rounds moves him up to third in the points with 87 and 2 wins. Mullins, who won the opener, has stayed consistent and sits solidly second in the title chase with 94 and 1 win, just 7 points out of the lead.

“The only way we can do better then 1-3 with two riders would be to go 1-2,” said Team FMF Suzuki Off Road Manager Mike Webb after the win. “So, I’m happy with these results. In the first four rounds of the GNCC Series Team FMF Suzuki Off Road has won three. The boys are working hard to put Suzuki out front and they’re succeeding.”
