Stewart Earns 9th at Steel City Raceway

Larsen Makes his Return

Delmont, PA – JDR/J-Star/KTM rider Malcolm Stewart put together two solid motos in order to earn 9th overall at the eleventh round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series in the 250 Motocross class. His teammate, PJ Larsen, also put in a decent ride to take 15th overall in the 450 Motocross class in his first race back since recovering from ACL surgery earlier this year.

Stewart earned a good start at the gate drop for moto one, and came across the first lap in 9th place. By the second lap he had moved up one position and continued his charge forward claiming two more positions by the halfway point. Once in 6th place, he was able to pull away from the pack behind him and secure his position. He remained consistent throughout the remainder of the moto to earn 6th place.

In the second moto, Stewart had a mid-pack start and had to work his way up through the pack. Within the first few laps he had moved his way into 11th and then made a pass for 10th place. He held the position for two laps until a mistake cost him one position. Another error on the last lap caused him to lose one more spot and set him back to 12th. He would go on to finish the race in 12th place. Stewart’s 6-12 moto scores earned him 9th overall for the day.

The 450 Motocross class saw a new face this season when PJ Larsen returned to action this weekend in Steel City. Larsen raced aboard his KTM 350 SX-F in his first race since recovering from ACL surgery. Larsen had a poor start in both of his motos but was able to put together consistent lap times and continuously pick up positions throughout the race. At the end of both motos, Larsen was able to climb up to 14th for a pair of 14-14 finishes. His moto results earned him 15th overall.

“It was definitely hard coming back,” remarked Larsen. “I know I’m not 100% yet, but I really wanted to come out and get some racing in before the season is over. I had fun today and I hope to improve at the final round in Lake Elsinore next weekend.”
